Warning! To the overdue elevator maintenance? The elevator company was fined!

Nowadays, elevators have become an important infrastructure for people's daily life, which is related to the living and working of thousands of households and the convenience of travel. Regular inspection is like a "physical examination", which conducts a comprehensive inspection of elevator safety management, maintenance, and equipment health to prevent elevator "sick" operations.

When it comes to reporting regular inspection, we all know that this is the legal duty of the elevator users. As everyone knows, once the elevator is overdue, the maintenance unit may also face punishment. Today (July 11), Nanjing Pukou market supervision department announced such a case.

On April 3, 2023, law enforcement officers of Qiaolin Branch of Nanjing Pukou District Market Supervision Bureau conducted an on-site inspection of the elevators in use in the factory buildings of Company A within its jurisdiction. It was found that the special equipment use signs of the company's four freight elevators in the previous year showed that the next inspection date was March 22, 2023, and the special equipment use signs of the five passenger elevators in the previous year showed that the next inspection date was March 8, with a total of 9 elevators in use.

Law enforcement officers filed a case against Company A in accordance with the law, and at the same time obtained the half-month insurance policies of the nine elevators involved in the case in March and April 2023,It is found that the elevator maintenance unit is still maintaining normally even though the elevator involved is overdue and has not been inspected, and has not taken any form to report to the district market supervision administrative department in accordance with the law.

After investigation, it was found that the elevator maintenance unit was careless. It believed that the factory building of Company A had not been leased out at that time, and the elevator was used less frequently. It did not matter to postpone the inspection for a few days.

Article 36 of the Nanjing Elevator Safety Regulations stipulates that elevator maintenance units shall promptly report to the market supervision administrative department in the district where the elevator is located if they find that the user has the following circumstances: use elevators that have not been registered in accordance with the law; use elevators that have not been inspected or failed in the inspection; use elevators that have serious hidden dangers of accidents or are reported to be stopped or scrapped; illegally carry out elevator renovation, repair and maintenance; other situations that endanger the safety of the elevator.

The elevator maintenance unit is inThe above 9 elevators are still provided with maintenance services even if they are still in use after overdue inspection.This act violates the provisions of Item 2 of Article 36 of the Nanjing Elevator Safety Regulations, and shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of Item 4 of Article 61 of the Nanjing Elevator Safety Regulations "in violation of Article 36 of these regulations and failure to fulfill the reporting obligation shall be punished with a fine of not less than 10,000 yuan but not more than 50,000 yuan.

Considering that the elevator maintenance unit can actively cooperate with the investigation and provide relevant materials afterwards, it has helped the user to apply for regular inspection on April 6, 2023 and the inspection results are qualified. Pukou District Market Supervision Bureau imposed a fine of 11000 yuan on it according to law.

With the acceleration of urbanization and the rapid growth of elevator ownership, elevator safety supervision is facing a new situation. Here, the market supervision department reminds the majority of elevator users and maintenance units to further strengthen the legal awareness of elevator safety use management, strictly implement the safety responsibility of elevator maintenance and use, improve the basic ability of elevator safe operation, and ensure the safety of elevator operation.
