Recently, a residential area in Qixingguan District was punished by 30000 yuan for failing to clean up serious accumulated water in the bottom pits of four elevators in normal use.

After investigation,During the two daily maintenance on July 13 and July 21, the maintenance unit found serious water accumulation in the elevator, and informed the user of the situation and indicated on the maintenance record that it was required to eliminate hidden dangers before use. The use of special equipment that has not eliminated potential safety hazards violates the provisions of Article 42 of the the People's Republic of China Special Equipment Safety Law. The District Market Supervision Bureau reminded that once it rains, as an elevator user, it is necessary to check whether there is water in the elevator pit at the first time, and if so, it must be cleaned immediately with the maintenance unit, so as to ensure the service life of the elevator and ensure the safe operation of the elevator.
Hazards of accumulated water in elevator pit
There are many people who do not know enough about the harm of accumulated water in the elevator pit. Even some property elevator managers think that there is a little water in the elevator pit. As long as the elevator can run, it doesn't matter. In fact, the harm of accumulated water in the elevator pit is very serious.
1. Danger of electric leakage.The elevator pit is paved with 110V safety circuit and 220V maintenance circuit. In the case of wet water in the bottom pit is very easy to leakage, not only will cause the elevator maintenance personnel electric shock, but also because the elevator is the whole metal structure, the current will be directly transmitted to the car, causing passengers electric shock.
2, the elevator abnormal operation.After the pit is accumulated due to excessive humidity in the elevator shaft, the safety contacts of the elevator door locks on each floor will rust, and the safety circuit of the elevator pit will age, resulting in the elevator not being able to judge the safe operation conditions normally, which may cause the opening of the door to start and the risk of cutting passengers.
3. Failure of basic safety mechanism.The accumulated water in the bottom pit of the elevator will cause the tension wheel of the speed limiter located at the bottom of the elevator to rust or slip, while the compensation chain located at the bottom of the elevator car will bring the accumulated water to the elevator track, hall door, car roof and wire rope during high-speed movement. Once the wire rope slips, the speed limiter is the last safety measure. As the tension wheel of the speed limiter cannot work normally, the speed limiter cannot start and will directly cause the elevator to fall.
4, affect the elevator service life and comfort.In the pit with long-term water accumulation, excessive humidity will cause serious corrosion of the main metal structure of the elevator, and the metal contacts will fail to corrode. The elevator is prone to abnormal noise, caton and excessive friction. Cause the elevator parts and the whole ladder life shortened.
The flood rushed into the elevator pit, causing the wires in the pit to be flooded, the safety switch and mechanical parts were damaged, and the elevator could not operate safely,Stopping the ladder is a necessary and only safety measure.
As the accumulated water is drained away, some elevators can resume normal operation after being checked to ensure safety. The other part of the elevator, because the safety can not be guaranteed, but also must stop for a period of time for maintenance.
