"The content in the government work report regarding the promotion of new industrialization deeply resonated with me. It proposed that the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size should grow by 6.5% in 2024, especially emphasizing the need to accelerate the development of advanced equipment manufacturing, which greatly encouraged me." said Hu Ming, a representative of the provincial people's congress and the party secretary and chairman of Guizhou Zhonghang Elevator Co., Ltd., during the review of the government work report.
Zhonghang Elevator originated in the 1960s. Hu Ming has been engaged in the manufacturing industry for nearly 40 years and is a true "second-generation" of the aviation industry. In his view, promoting new industrialization is an unshirkable political responsibility of state-owned enterprises.
Hu Ming stated that since last year, due to the overall economic environment, the elevator industry has experienced a significant decline, and Zhonghang Elevator has also been greatly affected. However, with the help of relevant departments at all levels in Zunyi City, many practical difficulties have been resolved. Zhonghang Elevator has collaborated with Huichuan District to develop an elevator industrial park, achieving stable progress with revenue exceeding 500 million yuan and nearly 3,000 elevators shipped. Since 2022, Zhonghang Elevator has become the largest local elevator company in terms of shipment volume in the southwest region, ranking among the top 20 of over 600 elevator manufacturing companies.
"Currently, the need for elevator upgrades is prominent, the after-service market is vast, and the renovation of old communities is ongoing... The elevator industry can be said to be one of the few sunrise industries, still possessing broad market development space. As a representative of the people's congress, I will do my utmost to lead Zhonghang Elevator to continuously strengthen, optimize, and expand, contributing to the high-quality development of the equipment manufacturing industry." Looking to the future, Hu Ming is full of confidence.
Based on his years of experience in the equipment manufacturing industry, Hu Ming also proposed relevant suggestions for promoting high-quality development in the equipment manufacturing industry at this conference.
"I suggest establishing and improving the mechanisms for the introduction and exit of high-end talent." Hu Ming further elaborated that regarding talent introduction, more flexibility should be added in areas such as the introduction of sales and R&D personnel based on the actual situation of enterprise development. Regarding talent exit, if the introduced talent does not meet the initial goals and cannot create benefits for the enterprise, there should be a smooth exit channel for talent.
In Hu Ming's view, the growth of enterprises follows a growth pattern that includes a nurturing period, a maturity period, a profit period, and a decline period, which is relatively long. Frequent changes in leadership are not conducive to the formulation of medium- and long-term development plans for enterprises. Therefore, Hu Ming suggested strengthening equity incentives for state-owned enterprises, promoting mixed ownership reform in state-owned enterprises, allowing senior executives and technical backbones to hold shares, enhancing their sense of belonging and ownership, and truly contributing ideas for the long-term healthy development of the enterprise.
"I hope to reasonably support the development of local manufacturing enterprises within the scope of market rules." Hu Ming stated that in the next steps, he will do his utmost to ensure the reform and development of the enterprise, continuously improve internal capabilities, and, with the strong support of the Zunyi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, build a well-centered elevator industrial park around Zhonghang Elevator, making more contributions to the development of the elevator industry and equipment manufacturing industry in the province.
