It is difficult for 84 households to travel in a residential area of Xi'an when the elevator is shut down.
There are 16 floors in Building 1 of a residential area in Chang'an District, Xi'an. The only elevator in Unit 2 of the building has been out of service for about a week, making 84 households suffer. The reason is that the owner of the top floor smashed through the wall between the home and the elevator machine room without permission. Due to major safety hazards, the elevator cannot operate normally.
Building 1 of Hengshun Garden Community is the only high-rise residential building in the community. It consists of two units, with 6 households on each floor. There are shops below the third floor. Residents on the floors above the shops usually use elevators. On the morning of August 12, the elevator in Unit 2 of Building 1 in the residential area was out of service. Residents of the unit said that this situation has existed for about a week.
Residents said that during the shutdown of the elevator, everyone could only find another way to go up and down the stairs. At 11 o'clock in the morning, an old lady went downstairs and sat breathlessly on a chair outside the doorman of the community to rest. The old man said that she lived on the 15th floor of Unit 2. She was 80 years old and could not use the elevator in Unit 2. She just took the stairs down to the 12th floor, then walked from the corridor on that floor to Unit 1 and then took the elevator downstairs. Residents said that during the rush hour, an elevator can not meet the needs of two units, so most people can only choose to take the stairs.
Regarding the reason for the elevator outage, Ms. Dong, the property manager of Hengshun Garden Community, presented a repair order issued by the elevator maintenance unit on August 6, 2022. The document states that it is recommended to suspend the use of elevators because 1604 households in Unit 2 of Building 1 have removed the partition wall of the elevator machine room and there are major potential safety hazards. In the elevator machine room on the top floor of Unit 2 of Building 1, there is a 2.7-meter-high and 1.4-meter-wide hole on the south wall, which is less than 5 meters away from the elevator traction machine. On the other side of the wall is the house of 1604 households.
Manager Dong said that on August 6, 1604 owners smashed through the partition wall between their houses and the elevator machine room. According to the opinions of the elevator maintenance unit, the property closed the elevator that day. On August 11, after the property organization maintenance personnel repaired the wall, the elevator resumed operation, but the wall was smashed again in less than a day. Manager Dong said that the owner should have disagreed with the developer on the area of the house.
On August 12, manager dong said that the property company had called the police. In addition, the property is sorting out relevant evidence and providing it to relevant departments such as housing construction and planning in the jurisdiction. Many departments have already intervened in this matter. At the same time, manager dong also contacted the legal personnel of the property company, or will go through legal procedures.
The reporter learned from the relevant departments of the Weiqu Sub-district Office in the jurisdiction of Hengshun Garden Community that the West Chang'an Street Community has been involved in this matter and will seek the industry authorities to identify the existing illegal acts and hand them over to the relevant departments for handling.
The residents of the community believe that the wall of the elevator machine room was smashed, which affected the normal use of the elevator by the residents of the whole unit. No matter what the reason, it should not infringe on the legitimate interests of other owners. The owner hopes that the property, developers and relevant government departments can deal with it as soon as possible and restore the normal operation of the elevator.
