With the increase of the age of the elevator, the mechanical parts and electrical systems are aging, and the safety performance is gradually reduced, which can easily lead to frequent elevator failures.
Low maintenance value
Because some old elevator manufacturers have closed down or some models of old elevators have stopped production, accessories cannot be found in time for replacement, and the stopping time is too long, which brings inconvenience to people's travel.
Or replace the non-standard accessories, failure repeatedly, money spent, ladder is not repaired, maintenance value is low.
Some thoughts on "repair or replacement"
Facing the "old elevator" with poor riding experience, frequent failures and low maintenance value, is it to repair or replace it?
The elevator can be used, it doesn't matter whether it feels good or not!
The truth is not so simple!
In addition to the above-mentioned problems that can be intuitively felt, the old elevator still has certain safety hazards.
For example, the "old elevator" does not meet the current standards and safety technical specifications.
Since the old elevators were produced according to the old standards of that year, the equipment lacks safety protection devices (functions) such as UCMP to prevent accidental movement of the car, ACOP car upward overspeed protection function, door loop detection function, car door opening restriction device, etc. These safety protection devices (functions) are based on new technologies and new requirements added by analyzing the causes of various elevator accidents in the past ten years.
According to the current safety technical specifications for elevators, old elevators produced according to the old standards do not need to meet the requirements of the new standards, and there are no requirements for new technical contents during regular inspections. This policy of "old requirements for old elevators and new regulations for new elevators" also leads to greater safety risks for "old elevators" due to backward manufacturing standards than elevators manufactured by new standards.
"The new three years, the old three years, the sewing and mending for another three years", the elevator is broken and it is good to repair it.
The old elevator has been in service for more than 15 years. It is not only difficult to repair, but also has some difficult problems.

Problem one: "old elevator" lever type drum brake risk hidden danger.
Some of the main components of the old elevator due to design defects and maintenance is not in place, there are security risks. For example, the lever-type drum brake and its extension-type brake ejector rod (as shown in the figure below) are corroded and worn during use, and the maintenance is not cleaned, lubricated, and inspected in time, which is prone to inflexible action and jams. The situation causes the brake to fail to close or to close incompletely, making the braking force insufficient, and eventually leading to the failure of the brake.

Problem two: it is difficult to find the original parts
With the advancement of elevator technology, some poorly managed elevator production units have closed down, or a certain type of elevator has been unable to meet the needs of production and use. After the mechanical parts or electrical systems of some old elevators are damaged, it is difficult to find the original accessories, and even some elevator maintenance units use non-standard accessories.

Problem three: low maintenance value
After long-term use of the old elevator, when a part or electrical component fails to be replaced, the fault is solved; after a certain period of time, other parts or electrical components fail again and are repaired again. And the frequency of failure will be higher and higher, and the maintenance cost will be higher and higher, resulting in low maintenance value.
The old elevator fault is high, the lack of new elevator safety protection device, unsafe, should be replaced with a new elevator.
Old elevator replacement, there are also problems.
Conundrum: Funding
For the renewal of old elevators in residential areas, although the government has issued a subsidy policy, there is no maintenance fund in the early stage of residential areas using old elevators, resulting in a large funding gap for the replacement of elevators; at the same time, the owners of the community have different opinions, which will also lead to it. It is difficult to raise shortfall funds.
However, whether it is repair or replacement, as the "first responsible person" for elevator safety, users must pay more attention to the use and management of old elevators. After all, ensuring the safe operation of elevators is the most important thing.
