Hangzhou, April 19 (reporter Jiang Wei) on April 18, the case of Hangzhou girl falling to death by the elevator left by her nanny was held in the first instance of the people's Court of Gongshu District, Hangzhou. The procuratorial organ filed a public prosecution against the nanny Wu for the crime of negligence causing death. After the trial, the case will be sentenced on an optional date.

According to a previous report by CCTV, on June 8, 2022, the defendant Wu Moufang was employed as a nanny in the homes of Chen Moujiang and Zhao to take care of his daughter Chen Moumou (born on August 19, 2020). At about 20 o'clock on June 14, Wu Moufang took Chen Moumou from the 15th floor of Unit 3, Building 2, a residential area in Gongshu District, Hangzhou City to the 1st floor by elevator. Due to negligence, Chen Moumou was left alone in the elevator. After the elevator automatically went up to the 8th floor, Chen got out of the elevator, climbed up the aisle window sill on the 8th floor and fell to the platform on the 2nd floor. He was pronounced dead that night after being sent to the doctor.

On April 18, the CCTV reporter paid a return visit to the incident area. In the incident unit, the reporter saw that the corridor window of the unit remained unchanged. There are two glass windows at the end of the corridor, which can be pushed out 90 degrees, and there is no anti-fall protection. The windowsill is about half a meter above the ground. Children can easily climb up the windowsill and out of the window by stepping on the steps.

Subsequently, the reporter came to another building in the community to investigate and saw that this apartment has no windows and other anti-falling protection, and there are also steps that can be stepped on, which may pose greater safety risks. The highest floor of the building is 27 floors.

The other main scene of the incident is the residential elevator. Some residents said that when no one takes the elevator, the two elevators of the unit will stop on the first floor and the eighth floor respectively. The reporter randomly selected two units of the two buildings of the residence and found that such a situation did exist.
Cherry's father, Chen Changjiang, said that the hearing was mainly a criminal case, and the nanny's default was the main cause of the tragedy. Therefore, the nanny's criminal responsibility was mainly pursued. Afterwards, a civil lawsuit will be filed against the property, developers and design companies, hoping that they will pay attention to the defects of the building.
"The babysitting industry is facing thousands of families with children, and the substandard height of the corridor window also leaves thousands of children with hidden dangers. I'm not fighting for one child at a time, I'm hoping that the industry and society as a whole, in terms of the safety of young children, will improve."
Outside the trial of the Hangzhou girl who fell to her death due to the elevator left by her nanny, the reporter interviewed Ms. Xie, the mother of millet grain, whose daughter also fell to her death due to the negligence of her nanny.
On December 15, 2020, a 2-year-old girl in Hangzhou was left alone on her daughter's balcony to bask in the sun by her nanny Liang. Liang returned with a diaper and found that the rice fell to her death unattended. After the small cherry tragedy, Ms. Xie contacted her parents and encouraged each other to comfort and encourage each other. At about 11:00 on April 18, Ms. Xie came to Gongshu District people's Court with her favorite schoolbag before her death to wait for the end of the trial of the cherry case.
