The draft law on the construction of barrier free environment was submitted to the second session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress for second instance today (24).
The draft stipulates that the state supports the installation of elevators or other barrier-free facilities in existing houses to provide convenience for the disabled and the elderly. The people's governments at or above the county level and their relevant departments shall take measures to create conditions to promote the installation of elevators or other barrier-free facilities in existing houses.
