You know what? The first elevator in Jiangsu is located in the Zichao Building of the Relics Museum of Modern Chinese History (Presidential Palace). This "old age" Otis hand-operated elevator with four floors and four stations, which was put into use in 1936, is still in normal operation... The Market Supervision Bureau of Jiangsu Province released the white paper "Elevator Safety Situation in Jiangsu Province" on November 20. In the past five years, the total number of elevators in Jiangsu has continued to rise with an average annual growth rate of more than 10%, and now exceeded 1 million, it accounts for about 1/10 of the total number of elevators in the country.
The white paper shows that the number of elevators in Jiangsu has gone through four stages: the initial stage (1970-1980), the total number of elevators is only 8, and a number of state-owned or collective elevator enterprises have been established in Suzhou, laying a solid foundation for the development of Jiangsu elevator industry. In the preliminary development stage (1980-2000), the total number of elevators in Jiangsu reached 8040, and a large number of private elevator enterprises grew and formed a complete elevator industry chain; from 2000 to 2020, Jiangsu elevators entered a stage of rapid development, with the total number jumping to 752000 units. Local elevator manufacturing enterprises rose and the number of elevator manufacturing enterprises grew to nearly 130. Since 2020, Jiangsu's elevator industry has entered a high-end mode, with the total number exceeding 1 million units and the production capacity continuing to expand. Among the districts and cities in Jiangsu, the top three in the total number of elevators are Suzhou, Nanjing and Wuxi.
The white paper shows that since 2021, Jiangsu has not had any elevator safety liability accidents within the statistical scope for 3 years, and the elevator safety situation has remained stable. According to reports, this year, the average time for elevator rescue and maintenance units in Jiangsu Province to arrive at the scene is 12 minutes, which is far lower than the national standard of 30 minutes. The main reasons for the failure of the elevator trap are improper use, failure of the elevator equipment, emergencies (external reasons), etc.
