Complete replacement to eliminate safety hazards
After visiting the escalator located at the pedestrian overpass of the West Factory (the intersection of Huanghe Road and Qingshui River Road) in the Economic Development Zone of Guiyang City, the reporter called the Construction Management Bureau of the Economic Development Zone again to learn more about the situation.
The pedestrian bridge of the West Factory in Jingkai District was maintained in August this year.
"On December 20, 2021, the four outdoor escalators here were inspected by the Guizhou Provincial Special Equipment Inspection and Testing Institute due to the aging of facilities and equipment, and the inspection results were substandard equipment and the use of them was prohibited. Later, combined with the actual situation here and inspection recommendations, reported to the district management committee, special funds were allocated to replace the four escalators here as a whole."
The staff of the Construction Management Bureau of the Economic Development Zone told reporters that the escalator here was handed over to Guizhou AVIC Elevator Co., Ltd. for measurement and installation. After the installation was completed in August 2022, it was reviewed and inspected by the Guizhou Special Equipment Inspection and Testing Institute and the Economic Development Zone Quality Inspection Bureau. After many times of debugging, it was finally officially put into use on October 20. Up to now, the use is in good condition and no related problems have occurred.
"In the next maintenance and management, our bureau will also post warm reminders on the spot, arrange special personnel to answer public feedback, and deal with elevator problems in a timely manner within 30 minutes after receiving the report, until the new elevator maintenance company is officially transferred to management after the warranty period." The staff of the Construction Management Bureau of the Economic Development Zone added that because of the particularity of the open-air escalator here, combined with the fact that Guiyang City has entered winter, affected by weather factors such as rain and freezing, there may be safety considerations here in this winter. The elevator is out of service, I hope the general public can understand and support this, and please understand the inconvenience caused to everyone.
Frequent problems are closely related to these causes.
It is understood that in addition to continuously strengthening management and maintenance, combined with the characteristics of the use of open-air elevators, the Construction Management Bureau of the Economic Development Zone will also go into the surrounding campuses, communities, streets, etc., and conduct in-depth publicity on irregular safe elevators. The citizens work together to maintain the normal use of elevators around them to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens.
"At present, our company mainly manages the cross-street elevators in Nanming District along Huaxi Avenue, with 4 escalators and 14 elevators." Master Wu, who has been in the industry for more than 20 years, told reporters that in daily work, in addition to elevator damage caused by weather, circuit and other problems, improper operation of facilities and equipment will also have a certain impact on the normal operation of cross-street elevators.
"For the elevator, the main problem is the improper operation of the public."
Master Wu said that at present, the elderly are mainly the elderly, but there is a certain difference between the inside of the cross-street elevator and the common household elevator. Sometimes it is just a problem caused by wrong keys. Many elderly people who have not used it will think that the elevator is broken and call us for feedback.
"At the same time, the situation of not cherishing facilities and equipment does exist. Students take repeated rides for fun, and directly hit the elevator buttons with umbrellas and other items, which are very easy to cause the buttons to fail and the elevator cannot be used normally. More importantly, this behavior It is easy to cause potential safety hazards such as elevator doors pinching people and trapping people."
Master Wu added that he had also encountered individual cases of elevator jam caused by littering cigarette butts, garbage and other sundries in elevator maintenance.

"In addition to continuously strengthening inspections and maintenance, the safety of cross-street elevators needs to be maintained by everyone. I hope that citizens can learn elevator safety knowledge and jointly improve the quality of civilized travel, so as to provide more convenient and fast protection for travel around." Master Wu said.
